10 Effective Home Remedies for Stomach Ache

The most common type of problem among people of all ages is the stomach pain. If you are suffering from stomach ache then you may experience diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, mild or severe stomach pain and even many a times it may lead to vomiting.

Before going for any home remedy for stomach pain you have to firstly identify its causes. If the pain is due to common problems like constipation, over eating, indigestion, gas, stomach infection, then the following home remedies can be used. However if it’s due to more serious reasons like gall bladder stone, ulcer, urine infection, appendices then you need to immediately consult your doctor.

The following are home remedies for stomach ache:

  1. Warm water: If the stomach pain is due to cramps then it’s advisable to drink a cup of hot water. Hot doesn’t mean boiling water, the warmth which is comfortable to you, go for it. This relaxes the muscles and gives you a sigh of relief.
  2. Fennel seeds: Fennel seeds are very helpful for digesting the food. If the stomach pain is due to indigestion then chew some fennel seeds. You can do it twice or thrice a day.
  3. Lemon and baking soda: (Avoid this remedy if you have high BP or if you are on a low sodium diet) Lemon contains antioxidant which helps in detoxifying your body and also removes radicals from the body as it is rich in vitamin C.
    All you need to do is, to a cup of warm water add 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of salt. Stir well and drink it immediately. You can use this twice or thrice a day.
  4. Ginger: Ginger is used from decades for many health problems. You can be relieved from stomach pain by sipping ginger tea or even by just adding few small pieces of ginger to warm water and drinking it.
  5. Mint: Mint is the basic ingredient which is available in every household and it is very helpful in relieving stomach ache. Chewing few mint leaves helps you or even you can add few mint leaves to a cup of tea and have it.
  6. Caraway seeds or Ajwain: Probably the oldest home remedy to treat stomach pain is ajwain. Chew half or 1 tea spoon of ajwain once in morning or at the time of pain.
  7. Aloe Vera: If the stomach pain is due to bloating, diarrhoea and constipation then aloe Vera juice is very helpful in reducing the pain.
  8. Chamomile: If digestion is the reason for stomach pain then chamomile is the best remedy to be used. It helps in easing the pain and relaxes the muscles. To a cup of boiling water add few chamomiles leaves and allow it to boil further for a minute or two. Sip this hot water by adding few drops of honey or sugar, as per your choice.
  9. Parsley: The overall health of your stomach can be maintained by having parsley water on a regular basis. Add some parsley to water and leave it for few hours. Drink this water daily 2-3 times.
  10. Yoghurt: Yoghurt helps in digesting the food, if you are suffering from indigestion then yoghurt is best for your tummy. Diarrhoea also comes in control as the bacteria in yoghurt helps in digesting the food properly.
